Pleaseeasaur :: Pleaseeasaur: An Amazing Dork!

Call him a dork, call him a geek, call him a spaz. Even though he looks like the kind of guy you'd expect to find at Star Trek conventions and science fairs, Pleaseeasaur mainman J.P. Hasson is, in his own warped way, a visionary. Over the course of his career (which, we assume, began somewhere in a galaxy far, far away), he's built up a catalog brimming over with some of the zaniest tunes you'd ever hope to hear ("No Prob Limo," "Strangers Have the Best Candy" and "Warning: These Cobras Are Totally Cool!" rank among the highlights). Rapping over programmed beats, tape loops and samples, Pleaseeasaur cuts quite a figure, whether he's wigged out as a '60s go-go dancer, wrapped in a furry Abominable Snowman get-up or defending the universe as a 'Voltron' extra. If you're not too busy speculating about what planet he's from or what kinds of psychotropic drugs his mother took while he was in utero, pay a visit to Pleaseeasaur's merch table, which contains stickers that say 'My Other Car is the Dream Barge,' CDs (including his latest outing, 'The Yellow Pages') -- even action figures (collect them all!). His current road trip finds him in equally laugh-inducing company: Drag City laughmeister Neil Hamburger. -- Susan Moll
